Organic Is In

Organic is "in", make no mistake about it, the organic movement is huge, believe it or not even in big cities. The fact that organics leave out man made compounds that can cause illness, people are now looking for ways to be very organic, from recycled organic toiletries, to perfumes, to food, the list goes on and on.

One day I talked to a woman from New York City, and it amazes me that someone from a metro hotbed will talk about organics, I would expect some hippie looking person talk about organics, not a well dressed professional type here on Maui for a business conference, then again what do I know?

"Organic food is what I look for, everything, beef, pork, veggies, fruits. It's all because of getting educated, the more man made stuff we consume, the greater risk we have to get some form of cancer. I don't want that. I know that for one, nothing is gauranteed, but while I am still alive, I'll try and purchase only organic foods, and items," she said as she waits for one of the resort busses to take her back to Kaanapali.

I asked her if she had a garden, would she use organic soils? She responded, "Yes I would in fact one day I hope to retire, and buy a home, as of right now, I live on the tenth floor in a Manhattan condo, and I don't have room for growing anything. But I really want to retire in a home with a yard, and I would actually use organic soils, it's healthier and better to be around, I don't want to use any man made chemicals in my yard, that's absurd, maybe twenty years ago, I wouldn't mind because I was uneducated about organics, my dad used pesticides on our lawn, and on my mom's flowers, it was bad smelling stuff, we had no idea how bad that stuff was. So if I do retire, I'll use organic soils, or organic growing products, why use chemicals from some lab?"
